Prof. Dr. Ayşe Bilge Şelçuk
Ayşe Bilge Selçuk is a professor of psychology whose work integrates scientific research and applied practice in the field of life-span human development.
She graduated from TED Ankara College in 1989, and completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in psychology at Middle East Technical University, and her PhD at the University of Melbourne, all with high distinction. Early in her career, she worked at the Turkish Grand National Assembly as a social policy assistant to Mümtaz Soysal, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and professor of constitutional law. In 2003, she joined the Department of Psychology at Koç University as a faculty member. In recognition of her scholarly contributions, she was awarded the title of Honorary Senior Research Fellow by the University of Queensland, and received the Prof. Mustafa Parlar Research Award. In 2022, she left Koç University to pursue her work within a scientist-practitioner model, and subsequently taught for three years at MEF University, where she offered courses on psychological well-being.
Her areas of expertise include life-span psychological development, psychological resilience, healthy child rearing, and child and adolescent psychology. She has authored over a hundred peer-reviewed scientific publications, numerous conference papers, and opinion articles. She has also written four books for the general public, originally published in Turkish: İnsan Her Koşulda (Human Through It All), Her Koşulda Ebeveynlik (Parenting Through It All), Psikolojik Sağlamlık (Psychological Resilience), and Dijital Çağda Sağlıklı Çocuk Yetiştirmek (Rearing Healthy Children in the Digital Age). She currently provides consultancy to families and institutions, delivers seminars, and continues to write.
